Gingrich Converts To Catholicism
By John P. Connolly, The Bulletin
Former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich converted to Roman Catholicism last week, but has kept silent on his conversion since then.
Mr. Gingrich, a Baptist in graduate school, has been married three times. His current wife, Callista Bisek, is a Roman Catholic. Mr. Gingrich reportedly spoke about the current controversy about Mr. Obama’s invitation to the University of Notre Dame on Twitter, calling it “sad” to see the president invited when his policies go against Catholic values.
A spokesman for Mr. Gingrich said he would not comment on the conversion for now, but may in the future. Other notable politicians who have converted to Catholicism include Jeb Bush, former governor of Florida, and former British Prime Minister Tony Blair.
