Michelle Obama arrives in Copenhagen for IOC vote
By The Associated Press
COPENHAGEN — Michelle Obama says the Olympics have the power to transform the lives of children in Chicago and around the country, inspiring them to be the next David Robinson, Nadia Comaneci.
Maybe even the next Barack Obama.
The first lady has wrapped up her first day in Copenhagen with a rousing speech to supporters of Chicago's bid for the 2016 Games. The next 48 hours are crucial, she says, "like a campaign." She is meeting International Olympic Committee members, hoping to show them Chicago has the passion to host the Summer Games.
She says the bid is spectacular. But more important is what it would leave behind — facilities for children and the inspiration to show kids from all backgrounds that they can be so much more.
