Jobs: Saved, Created or Vanished?
Letter to the Editor
To The Editor:
237.4 – That's how many jobs were supposedly "saved or created" in the 8th Congressional district, according to www.recovery.gov, by President Obama’s Trillion Dollar stimulus bill. Congressman Patrick Murphy and the Democrats who voted for the scheme told us it was necessary to save us all from disaster. $646,214 – The Cato Institute says that's how much Murphy voted to spend per job, perhaps more.
And what does Congressman Murphy have to say about this? I don't know, but if past really is prologue, then we can't expect him to face REAL voters in a REAL town hall meeting where people pose REAL questions. If past is prologue, how can we now trust him and Congress with a health care reform plan that they deceptively promise will provide universal coverage without exploding the deficit, but destroys private health care in the process, and, according to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, cuts $500 BILLION from Medicare (Washington Post)?
Congressman Murphy, if past really is prologue, why should we trust you for two more years?
Sincerely, ROB MITCHELL, Doylestown
